Readings round-up

It's been a super-busy couple of weeks: Elizabeth and I drove to the Louisiana Book Festival, where I was fortunate enough to appear on a panel talking about The Southern Review as well as a reading, then back to work for a couple days, then up to Chicago for Wit Rabbit 48 and a reading at the Seminary Coop Bookstore in Hyde Park.

Certainly a whirlwind, but an amazing one. I've posted a few photos from the events below:

Interview up on Smile Politely

I'm late in sharing this post, but it was truly lovely to sit down with Rebecah Pulsifer on Smile Politely Radio, 90.1FM, which airs every Friday at 5:30PM, to talk about Translation. If you missed the radio show, here's a link to the podcast of the episode.

Talking to Unit 4 public schools

I was fortunate enough to come into Central High School in Champaign, IL this past Friday and talk with both an AP English class and Mr. Joe Meyer's second period welding class. It was a wonderfully eclectic group of students who asked great questions and were kind enough to let me talk abut poems for too long.

I'm excited to be reading with Wyn Cooper at the Doudna Fine Arts Center at Eastern Illinois University. The reading will be at 7pm this coming Monday. There will also be a Q&A following the reading, with copies of Translation for sale. Many thanks to the whole English Department, especially Charlotte pence, for setting the reading up. Pictures and recap to follow after the reading!

An amazing time at Franklin College

I can't say enough good things about the faculty, staff, and students I met during my visit to Franklin College this past Tuesday. I especially want to thank my friend Callista Buchen, who is a new faculty member in the department, and took care of all the details. A few photos of the event:

Monmouth reading recap

The reading at Monmouth was a huge success. Students and faculty alike were active, engaged, and enjoying the time spent with great writing. Ted Sanders and Jensen Beach were, as always, amazing, and they had such wonderful advice for all the young writers there. I wanted to thank David Wright, and the entire Monmouth community, for hosting us and showing us such a great time.

Reading news

I'll be reading on November 12th at Monmouth College (Illinois) with my great friends and fellow writers Ted Sanders and Jensen Beach.

The reading begins at 6:15pm, and is located at the Mellinger Teaching and Learning Center. Free to the public!
